Central Georgia Heart Center offers a wide variety of cardiology and electrophysiology services in Macon, Georgia and surrounding areas. Electrophysiology is the study of the electrical impulses in your body. This can effect your cardiac and nervous systems of the body. Our electrophysiologists provide a variety of studies and procedures to patients. Here is a short breakdown of our services.
Electrophysiology Studies
This is a study that looks at the electrical impulses in the heart. The test helps determine if you have a healthy heart rate. It provides doctors with a clear understanding of your heart rhythm and needs. You can learn more about an electrophysiology study here.
Cardioversion
This is a way that an electrophysiologist can get your heart rate back to a normal rhythm. Cardioversion can be performed electrically or chemically. It is an electrophysiology procedure that is often performed when a patient has an arrhythmia and might be at risk for a stroke, heart attack, or they simply don’t have enough blood flow to meet their body’s needs.
Pacemaker and Defibrillator Implantation
Central Georgia Heart Center electrophysiologists use implants to help control your heart beat. They are often placed after a heart attack and can monitor your temperature, heart rate, breathing and more. Not only do they function to keep patients alive, they provide cardiologists with detailed information about an individual.
Radiofrequency Ablation
This electrophysiology procedure is intended to cure an arrhythmia. A special wire is threaded into the heart and radio-frequency energy is targeted toward the areas that cause the abnormal heart beat. If successful, it can cure heart rhythm problems and kill the tissue causing the issue.
Device Follow Up And Remote Monitoring
For patients with a pacemaker or defibrillator, electrophysiologists need to monitor them regularly. Between visits and the information the devices deliver, we monitor the data to keep patients safe.
Other Electrophysiology Procedures
Central Georgia Heart Center also provides other services like cryo ablation, tilt table testing, and more. For a full list of electrophysiology services visit centralgaheart.com/electrophysiology-services/.
